Chrysi Sylaidi, a Rockha Radio- Show Host Veteran, is thriving in her acting career in New York City.

New York- On July 7, we managed to watch an online screening of a past production of Golden Girl by the Sea, where Chrysi performed with great success as the main lead. The show written by Dorothea Floria, an acclaimed Filipino writer, was staged for the first time last summer and was very well received by critics and audiences around New York.

The screening was part of a series of free online events hosted by TeamTheatre as a gift of support during the pandemic to communities around the US and the world.

Rockha radio, who has been following Chrysi’s steps in her international career as an actress, was fortunate to gain access to the link for the online screening.

The sweet and witty show was placed in Ancient Greece. In the story the lead character portrayed by Chrysi, had to fight her way through God-made trials in order to find true love. The audience’s journey started from a beach on the island of Santorini and then moved to Aphrodite’s Temple, to Apollo’s mansion, to Dionysus’s realm, to Zeus’s Palace, to Athena’s mind, to Hera’s realm and then ended all the way back to Santorini. All these places and characters were created by utilizing the bodies of all the performers on stage. The simple but strong message of the play was delivered at the end when Chrysi’s character realized that the person she was actually looking for to love and to cherish was herself all along.

Dorothea Gloria, Fritz Leonard, Annasole Podesta, Sarah Bitar, Josh Davis, Ella Rivers, Vincent Van Der Velde, and Emma Harvey were the impressive ensemble that portrayed the Greek Gods, executed the imaginative choreography and did a wonderful job transferring the audience to another reality full of magic, passion, dancing, and free flowing greek tsipouro.

Last but definitely not least, Chrysi.

Chrysi’s performance in front of the packed theatre of the Greek Cultural Center in Astoria was astonishing. Her innate gift in comedy and her unparalleled talent in drama moved everyone in the audience to tears of joy and tears of sadness. So much so that audience members were holding their breath in front of her incredibly skillful, powerful and honest performance that will definitely be remembered as one of the best in years.
